7 Things To Ask Yourself Before You Speak

“He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.” – Proverbs 21:23. Why don’t you stop using your mouth as a ladder to the wicked people by broadcasting yourself?

Before you speak, ask yourself these questions:
  1. Is it true? If it’s not true, shut up.
  2. Is it kind? If what you want to say is unkind, shut up.
  3. Does it edify? Is it compulsory to make yourself a local BBC or CNN? Does that put food on your table?
  4. Is it necessary? If it isn’t necessary, shut up. I just bought this helicopter. I bought these shoes from Scandinavia. My daughter is going to Cambridge. Who asks you these questions?
  5. Is it godly?
  6. Will it hurt anybody? If it’s going to hurt somebody, shut up!
  7. Will it improve on the silence? If you see that silence is better, keep silent.
